Explanation Of 5 Star Rating System

PLEASE NOTE: I do not hold any ratings on this site to be the only way to see a particular movie. These are OPINIONS, not facts.

I encourage people to a) have their own opinion about movies and b) to know what others think. That is why with each film review I provide a link to the film’s trailer and to its IMDB, Rotten Tomatoes, and Wikipedia page.

5 Stars – “Great ” – A classic. An extremely good movie, most likely a masterpiece.

4 Stars – “Good” – A competent movie, definitely recommended.

3 Stars – “Meh” – A watchable movie. You’ll see a few plot points coming miles away, and you might see a few formulaic things sprinkled liberally through. Not a bad watch for the average viewer though. Film snobs or only those interested in high quality films should stay away.

2 Stars – “Bad” – Highly advised to stay away. Plot holes, bad acting, ridiculously formulaic or poorly executed.

1 Star – “Awful” – Stay away, please. Very rare to find a movie this low.

“…the bitter truth we critics must face, is that in the grand scheme of things, the average piece of junk is probably more meaningful than our criticism designating it so.” – Ratatouille (2007)
